Supernatural providence finds expression in the Ring passing from Bilbo to Frodo.
Frodo was selected to bear the Ring by something.
After Gandalf explains to Frodo that he was meant to have the Ring, Frodo asks, "Why was I chosen?" (Fellowship, p. 70).
