Highest Growth for Intel in Ten Years

Intel had a good last quarter, their best in a long time. It is hard to believe that just a few years ago, the server and desktop processors of Intel had lost their competitive edge. Then CPUs came along based on the Core microarchitecture: that is, the Core 2 families of processors and the Xeon 5100 and 5300 series.

The third quarter is usually a strong one for Intel and for many other IT companies as well. The recent third quarter was no different, except for maybe being even stronger than usual. Compared to the quarter before it, Intel underwent the “highest sequential growth for any quarter in the last ten years”.

Not the End of Recovery, Just a Milestone and Foundation

The third period was by far the best period yet since Intel’s resurgence began under the Core microarchitecture. Nevertheless the quarter was not an end in itself. It was not “the end of recovery”.

Rather it was just “a milestone”.

Moving forward, it is hoped that it will be part of “a foundation”.
