12/17 - Hard to believe that Green Day is still in the top ten of most searched topics in 2005. This is not a top ten of musicians either. It's top ten, period. Star Wars was the most searched movie. No surprise there. But what about number two Napoleon Dynamite? (Yes, I have a shirt that says "Vote for Pedro"). Napoleon forged a cult following—must be huge—and was a "sleeper hit".

Companies that have worked with the Solomon product line really ought to pay attention to Microsoft Dynamics SL 6.5, formerly MS Busines Solutions-Solomon. The product "has received rave reviews".

Back in October, AMD became the Official Technology Partner of NASCAR. Now Intel plays tit-for-tat and has become a partner with BMW—the BMW Group and sponsor of the BMW Sauber F1 Team. The partnership extends to datacenters and mobile computing devices. "The two companies have also agreed to develop an industry specification".

Possibly the main point in a string of recent hires at Yahoo! is search. Please keep in mind that all of these individuals are brilliant. One recent hiree was appointed vice president of emerging search. The lastest newcomer is to help Yahoo! build a global research organization around, among other things, "search and information navigation".

Microsoft recently decided to bundle Windows Mobile 5.0 with Exchange Server. This could eliminate some of Microsoft's competitors. One such company is claiming patents on some of the features of Windows Mobile. The company claims to have spent long nights and many years hammering out their original vision. Company is now a global provider of communications platforms. Company has 25 patents and many more pending. "Windows Mobile 5.0 is a blatant infringement on Visto’s patented technology".

You have heard of System-on-Chip (SoC). Now there's Network-on-Chip (NoC). NoC is expected to eventually supplant SoC, replacing a circuit-switched bus with packet-based technology. "NoC technology will clearly be the next wave in SoC".

Yahoo! has acquiesced in a patent asserted by Forgent Networks. Many companies have acquiesced, many more remain in litigation. "The '672 Patent relates to digital image compression used in digital still image devices".

Sun has enhanced its Java Enterprise System and Java Sysem Suites with version 7 of the Sun Java System Portal Server. Portal Server 7 enables the creation of interactive communities and builds portals "with collaborative content including RSS feeds, blogs and wikis".
