Laptops are still hot. For the first time more notebooks sold during Thanksgiving week than desktops. This bodes well for notebook makers and parts and platforms suppliers of notebooks. "The notebook segment led desktop PCs in unit sales for the first time ever during the holiday period".

All IT seems boom and bust. The chip industry is boom and bust. So are hard drives. "Indeed the hard disk drive sector is notorious for boom and bust cycles that are all the more pronounced by aggressive pricing".
