There has been speculation that NAND flash memory, what with the entry into the market of the world's largest chip maker and all, shall go the way of DRAM (dynamic RAM) and become a commodity. On the other hand, others speculate that the anticipated drop in prices shall spur demand. Intel currently makes NOR but shall soon make NAND in conjunction with Micron. "The venture benefits Intel by giving it a second line of flash memory".
IBM sold the most in dollars of servers last quarter. HP, however, grew its sales more than IBM and was second. Dell, Sun, and Fujitsu/Fujitsu-Siemens were third, fourth, and fifth. IBM had a little over 30% market share while HP had a little under 30%. "International Business Machines Corp. kept its leading position ... Hewlett-Packard Co. remained in second place" (Reuters).
