11/20 - In spite of the recent availability of VT (virtualization technology) on single-core CPUs (central processing units), Intel will not start seeding the market with the technology until the release of Presler, currently scheduled for the first quarter of 2006. Presler can be viewed as a die-shrink and enhanced Pentium D, and a sister chip of the forthcoming mobile processor codenamed Yonah, part of the Napa platform. Virtualization allows a CPU to be partitioned and run separate OSs (operating systems) or applications on the partitions. "With the Presler launch in Q1, [Virtualization Technology] will go everywhere that you can think of".
